Visual Alchemist Chosen as Member of The Month – Vicki Moser – CopperMoon Design

Vicki Moser of Coppermoon Design

Vicki Moser of CopperMoon Design has been chosen as the Member of The Month by the East Portland Chamber of Commerce. As an active member of the chamber, Vicki has been instrumental in bringing freshness of thought and purpose to our chamber in many ways.  Earlier in the year, Vicki presented the idea of  interested members gathering informally over a coffee or dinner to begin sharing ideas of about our growth and development as a Chamber of Commerce.  Informally the “Damn Good Idea” committee took shape and has begun thinking outside the box thanks to Vicki’s quiet leadership.   Vicki also has been instrumental in the visual presentation of our Chamber through the chamber website.   Besides these contributions however, we wondered just who is Vicki Moser?  What makes her unique?

We turned to Dan LaGrande of LaGrande Public Relations who recently had the opportunity to interview Vicki.  He has presented us with the following representation:

It’s rare in today’s world that a child knows exactly what she wants to be when she grows up…and has the talent and tenacity to achieve that dream.

But that’s my story — it’s true!  I grew up wanting to be an artist.  I always had the talent.  At age 10, unbeknownst to my parents, I entered and won a magazine “draw this” contest.  My folks were very surprised when the magazine contacted them to let them know I was the winner.  They became upset, though, when the magazine editor told them that I had great talent…and then tried to sell them on enrolling me in an art school.

Despite that I pursued my dream, but by the time I got to college I realized that it would be hard to succeed financially as an artist.  Leaving school, I discovered that I could make money as a graphic designer and still do art.

Insights as a Young Artist

Over time, I came to see how art is more than an expression of beauty, that it also affects our inner selves, our sub-conscious.  That insight led me back to college again, enrolled in an interdisciplinary study of art and psychology.  I considered a career in art therapy, but realized my passion and talent is best expressed in the power of non-verbal communication, through the graphic arts.

As my career developed, I learned that effective graphic design is more than pretty images on a page.   Understanding and then conveying the client’s message visually is what I do.  As you will see in my artist style, there is serenity, a quiet expression of form, color and balance.  It calms the mind, as well as the eye.  That opens the viewer to receiving the message I am communicating.

What Makes Me Special

I find that I am unique among most graphic artists because my work creates strong bonds between the viewer and my visual images.  I like to describe myself as a “visual alchemist,” because I am able to succeed in communicating my client’s message in a subtle, pleasing style.  The result moves the viewer to respond with affirmation and action–the goal a client seeks in communicating in a visual medium, be it a web site, a brochure or an ad.

Achieving that happy outcome for a client is a challenge–one that I enjoy.  By combining my artistic talents, deep insights into psychology and human nature, and trained eye, I am able to meld my intuition and creativity into a compelling visual message.  My clients value my unique approach and frequently refer others to me.

Congratulations Vicki ! Thank you for the richness you bring the East Portland Chamber of Commerce.

  • I met Vicki through the East Portland Chamber and have learned a lot about graphic and web design as a result. She possesses a lot of talent and know-how, and gives a lot to her clients. I would strongly recommend looking at her portfolio on her website to get a sense of the breadth of her talents and products. Even better, take time to talk to her at one of our AM meetings.
Thanks, Vicki, for all you have done and continue to do for the chamber and for your lucky clients!
