Community Event: Opening Celebration of Earl Blumenauer Bridge

  • July 31, 2022
  • Various Locations (see link for info)

On Sunday, July 31st the City of Portland’s Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is throwing a community celebration to open the new Congressman Earl Blumenauer Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge—a transformative car-free connection between two of the Rose City’s fastest growing neighborhoods: the Lloyd District and the Central Eastside.

As a valued partner—and someone who cares deeply about our community—Earl wanted to make sure you had a special invitation to the festivities. The speaking program starts at noon but a complete list of the opening day activities can be found on PBOT’s website.

It’s no secret Portland has faced some significant challenges, but there are a lot of exciting initiatives on the drawing board and this bridge ties many of them together. It’s an example of vision and planning that emphasizes our shared values and brings people together. In that spirit, the city is hosting a family-friendly community gathering and pop-up block party to celebrate the bridge, the progress it represents, and the commitment to making sure Portland’s best days are ahead.

We hope to see you there. Bring your bike!
